Two Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District music students from Economedes High School recently performed in the Texas All-State Orchestra in San Antonio.
Emily Kristine Alvarado and Diego Garza-Romero, 11th grade members of the Jaguar Orchestra, were selected to play at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center as part of the 2018 Texas Music Educators Association Clinic/Convention.
Emily and Diego, who are both double bass players, earned the prestigious honor to perform through a competitive process held this year across the state at district, region and area levels.
This is the highest honor a music student in Texas can achieve and this year marks the seventh year in a row that students from the Jaguar Orchestra earn this prestigious honor.
The Jaguar Orchestra is under the direction of Cristina Gonzalez. Both Diego and Emily are students of UTRGV Associate Professor of Double Bass Dr. George Amorim.
The Texas Music Educators Association is an association of over 13,000 school music educators dedicated to promoting excellence in music education.
