SARITA, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents seized heroin and ecstasy pills at the Sarita Checkpoint.
Yesterday, agents assigned to the Sarita Checkpoint boarded a commercial bus to conduct immigration inspections on all passengers. During the inspection, an agent located a backpack that none of the surrounding passengers claimed. A Border Patrol K-9 conducted a free air sniff on the backpack and alerted to the bag. Inside, agents discovered five bundles of heroin and a bag containing 300 pills of ecstasy.
The heroin weighed over 5 pounds worth an estimated $186K. The ecstasy is worth an estimated $6K.
The Drug Enforcement Administration took custody of the seized narcotics.
