AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) is proud to participate in National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM). Recognized every October, NCSAM was created as a collaborative effort between government and industry to ensure that all Americans have the information they need to stay safer and more secure online.
TDLR will participate with weekly staff training workshops and through raising awareness among our licensee population via social media. TDLR’s social media channels include a main Facebook page (30,000+ likes), a Medical Health & Safety Facebook page, and three unique Twitter accounts. Links https://www.tdlr.texas.gov/contact.htm.
“We’re proud that this year, during Cybersecurity Month, we are able to bring in cybersecurity experts to educate TDLR staff on the gravity of cyber security and data privacy,” said Victoriano Casas III, TDLR’s Information Security Officer. “We want our employees to help us continue in our efforts to earn the trust of Texans every day.”
The 15th annual NCSAM – #CyberAware – will include a full week dedicated to critical infrastructure – from the power grid to transportation to smart cities and elections.
The month will also provide guidance for consumers about how to best protect their digital lifestyles – at home, at work and on the go – and remind everyone that protecting the internet is “Our Shared Responsibility.” In addition, NCSAM 2018 will shine a spotlight on the critical need to build a strong, cybersecure workforce to help ensure families, communities, businesses and the country’s infrastructure are better protected.
