Hunting season for archers starts in Tamaulipas

Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas .- Tamaulipas opened its white-tailed deer hunting season for archers, placing the state, for the second year in a row, as the only one in Mexico to offer a special period for bow hunting.
Marcelo Fernández Franco, Hunting and Fishing Tamaulipas Commissioner, said that the regular season for this species starts on the third Friday of November, but for bow hunting, the season is four weeks ahead.
The white-tailed deer bow hunting season will end as the regular rifle hunting season, on the third Sunday of February 2019.
Through this special season, the Government of Tamaulipas seeks to encourage the arrival of sports hunters from other Mexican states and the United States, said Fernandez Franco.
For the beginning of this season the archer Dave Watson, host of Outdoor Channel’s “The Journey”, and Patrick Starnes, professional guide of San Antonio, Texas, visited “La Palma” Ranch, located in Nuevo Laredo.
Starnes became the first hunter of the season to achieve a 207-6/8 deer.
