McAllen, TX .- Raptor expert Erik Bruhnke will be at Quinta Mazatlán on Thursday, November 8th at 6:00 p.m. to present “Raptors of the Rio Grande Valley”. Have you ever wondered what hawk is out on the horizon or circling right over your head? Do you ponder which birds of prey visit your backyard? If so, this is the talk for you! Birds of prey are one of the most difficult varieties of birds to identify. Come join Erik Bruhnke as he shares field-learned techniques for identifying raptors both up close and at a distance. From his raptor jokes and identification anecdotes, to his wide range of impressive raptor photographs, Erik’s raptor identification workshop is sure to captivate and educate audiences of all skill levels!
Erik Bruhnke graduated from Northland College in Wisconsin with a Natural Resources degree in 2008. His field work focused on bird studies in Upper Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. He conducted vegetation and breeding bird surveys throughout North Dakota and the Cascade Mountains of Oregon. Erik has been the continuing fall hawk counter at Cape May Hawkwatch in New Jersey since 2016. His wildlife photography has won national awards, and his writings have been featured in Birder’s Guide via the American Birding Association, BirdWatching, and Birdwatcher’s Digest. Erik leads tours for Victor Emanuel Nature Tours as well as his own business, Naturally Avian Birding Tours.
